These HGS series Caparisons were made for heavy gauge strings (hence the "HGS") and meant for lower tunings. This one came from the factory (and is still) tuned B (B-F#-D-A-E-B), and it is a 24.75in scale.
To compensate for the short neck scale the bridge and pickups are moved back 3mm further on the body, so you get the slinky feel of a Gibson scale guitar, but 27 frets and the string tension that keeps the lower tuned strings tight enough to retain pick attack.
